A Fairytale Baby Showers Theme

Your guests travel to an enchanted land when you throw a fairytale theme.

Every girl wants to be part of her fairy tale.

Invitations:

Some of our favorite fairy tale characters are Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella. Get inspired and create invitations featuring these characters.

Decorations:

Create an enchanted land. Decorate with a castle, knights, a prince, a princess, a dragon, unicorns and a kissing frog. For extra fun, dress up Medieval style.

Games & Prizes:

Play a game of ‘Pin the Tail on the Dragon’.

The Menu:

Take inspiration from some favorite fairy tales:

  • Hansel and Gretel (Gingerbread, Candy, etc.)
  • Snow White (non-poisonous apple dishes!)
  • Cinderella (a basket of goodies)
Party Favors:

Have a small treasure chest filled with party favors for your guests as they leave the party? Bags of trail mix or dried fruit work well.

My Thoughts:

Close but no cigar? Check out our princess theme.

Frog Baby Showers Theme

Take the leap and throw this shower for your guests.

Even if you only associate frogs with boys, you might want to reconsider when you discover that this theme works for girls too!

Invitations:

Send out frog invites. Find a design online, or be creative and make your own out of construction paper and plastic craft eyes. Create a fold-over invitation with party information written on the inside of the mouth.

Decorations:

Decorate the party room to look like a frog pond with water lilies, shiny blue paper (to simulate water) and paper frogs. Top it off with green balloons.

Games & Prizes:

Kids in attendance? Play ‘Musical Lily Pads.’
For adults, consider the crazy Teddy Bear Kiss Game substituted with a toy frog.

Menu:

Serve a big bowl of green M&M’s. Stick with the green theme and serve a green salad of:

  • Spinach
  • Celery
  • Green pepper
  • Cucumbers
  • Avocados
  • Green Goddess Dressing
  • Find frog-shaped cookie cutters and make your frog cookies.
Party Favors:

Be ‘toady’ savvy and send guests home with something green like a potted plant or mint gum.

My Thoughts:

Consider decorating your cake with marshmallow Cattails. Just poke several small marshmallows onto a wooden skewer. Voila!

Princess Baby Showers Theme

Hear ye, Hear ye! The King and Queen will announce the new arrival with a Princess theme.

Invitations:

Make castle-shaped invitations. Templates can be found online, or purchase invites at your local party supply store. Once you choose your template, roll it up in a scroll, tie it with ribbon and send it off to guests.

Decorations:

Recreate a castle scene at your party. Try “wallpapering” a brick or stone design on your wall with bricks made from art paper. If you’re not the artistic type, pick up castle-themed decorations at your local party supply store.

Games & Prizes:

Buy a dragon-shaped pinata at a party store. Fill it with gold and silver foiled chocolates and candies, and have your guests “slay” the dragon with a stick.

The Menu:

A princess is worthy of only the best foods!

  • Sparkling grape juice
  • Grapes and other fruits
  • Assortment of hearty bread
  • Deli meats and cheeses

For dessert, make unique princess magic wands. Dip pretzel rods in white almond bark, and sprinkle with your choice of cake sprinkles.

Party Favors:

Pamper your guests with feminine favors such as necklaces, bracelets or body lotion.

My Thoughts:

Check out our Medieval theme.

Pretty In Pink Baby Shower

This theme provides for the ultimate girly-girl experience!

Is it going to be a girl? Then this is the perfect time to celebrate femininity!

Invitations:

Make standout letters using two or three different shades of pink paper. Decide on a shape, cut the paper, and arranged it in layers.

Request guests to dress in pink!

Decorations:

Keep things simple by displaying a bouquet of pink carnations, roses and gerbera daisies. Add some scented candles and music, and you’re on your way.

Games & Prizes:

Dye a variety of drinks pink, using red food coloring. Once the drinks are dyed, have guests sample them and guess which type or brand of drink it is. Sodas, juices, and other water-based drinks work well, but if you want to throw guests off, try using thicker milk-based liquids (milk, soy milk, cream, etc.)

The Menu:

Let this list of red and pink foods get you started with your menu:

  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Red Jello
  • Red/pink punch
  • Cranberries
  • Tomato soup
  • Apples
  • Pomegranates
  • Red peppers
  • Chili
  • Red cabbage
  • Red potatoes

Top your menu off with a delectable red velvet cake.

Party Favors:

Victoria’s Secret has a line of products called, “Pink.” Surprise guests with one of these personal gifts. This line includes sleepwear, slips, shorts, tanks, camis, lounge pants, and panties.

My Thoughts:

This idea could be turned blue if she’s expecting a boy – but good luck finding a blue menu!

Little Miss Muffet Shower Theme

The timeless ‘Little Miss Muffet’ nursery rhyme makes a great theme.

Invoking nursery rhymes are a preferred way to bring in the baby. ‘Little Miss Muffet’ makes a great party theme.

Invitations:

Create invitations with sketches of Little Miss Muffet and her cherished tuffet. Include yellow tissue wrap with your invites and instruct guests to wrap their gifts like curds, whey or another type of cheese.

Decorations:

Establish your theme with using curds, whey, a spider and caricature of Miss Muffet. Create a ‘perfect’ for your honoree to sit while opening her shower gifts. Use an ottoman, green fabric, and plastic plant leaves to create your tuffet. Wrap small boxes of various sizes to simulate your curds and whey. Your local party store will have a large plastic spider and batting to create a spider web.

Games & Prizes:

Play a modified Piction Baby game. Have guests sketch out nursery rhymes or parts of nursery rhymes.

The Menu:

Petit fors, fruits, and a cheese plate are an excellent fit with this shower theme. Yellow frosting on a bundt cake will simulate a block of cheese.

Party Favors:

You won’t want your guests to be frightened away. But since they’re on their way home, attach small plastic spiders to your party favor wrappings!

My Thoughts:

So we’ve given you the party plan but failed to mention the whole nursery rhyme. Here you go!

Little Miss Muffet

Sat on a tuffet,

Eating her curds and whey.

Along came a spider,

Who sat down beside her,

And frightened Miss Muffet away!

Little Red Riding Hood Theme

Decorating in the ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ theme is easy. Let your guests walk through the forest to get to Grandma’s house!

With Grandma being a central character in this fairy tale, this theme is perfect for grandmas.

Invitations:

Make letters from a piece of red construction paper. Cut each invitation in the shape of a cape. Glue two small pieces of yarn to create the cape’s fastening strings.

Decorations:

Use your imagination! A girl, a red cape, grandma’s house, a picnic basket, the big bad wolf and a forest are all associated with this fairy tale.

Games & Prizes:

Choose one guest and dress her up as Little Red Riding Hood. The costume can include a wig, hat, gloves, shoes, socks, red cape, coat, scarf, and basket. Gift your willing participant with a red apple, red candle or apple-scented lotion.

The Menu:

Serve homemade favorites such as bread, jams, casseroles and pies. Serve food items in baskets, the kind Red Riding Hood would have taken to Grandma’s house.

Party Favors:

Choose from these favor ideas and wrap them in a small wicker basket.

My Thoughts:

Check out our similar fairytale theme.

Hollywood Themed Baby Shower

Who doesn’t love a little celebrity gossip and going-ons?

Doesn’t it seem that recently, everyone in Hollywood is pregnant or has had a baby recently? Marcia Cross, Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Naomi Watts. Are we noticing a baby trend?

Invitations:

Go with glittery letters of course!

Decorations:

Glam it up for this theme! Bring in the plants, Christmas lights, candles and flowers. Scatter pillows and printed fabrics (think animal print!) around your venue.

Finally, play a muted movie about pregnancy in the background for the visual delight.

Games & Prizes:

Request that guests arrive dressed as their favorite celebrity (extra points for those who come dressed as a celeb who is pregnant or has recently had a baby.)

Guests could also come dressed as a famous mother/daughter duo. Gwyneth Paltrow and Blythe Danner or even Judy Garland and Liza Minelli are ideas.

The Menu:

Serve ultra-chic food for this party. Try (fully-cooked) sushi, panini sandwiches, bruschetta or some ethnic favorites

Sprinkle confetti and light some candles on your serving table.

Party Favors:

Exchange manicures and pedicures with guests. Depending on your budget, a professional make-up artist could perform makeovers for guests (or an independent cosmetics sales consultant could do the same thing, giving the option of purchasing cosmetics on location.)

My Thoughts:

Similar to our ‘a star is born’ theme.

‘Girls Only’ Baby Shower Theme

If it’s going to be a girl, it’s got to be this ‘Girls Only’ theme!

No boys are allowed when you throw this girl only shower theme. Girl power!

Invitations:

Find bright and bold invitations at your local party supply store. Spritz the mother-to-be’s favorite perfume on each letter and send them off.

Decorations:

This just in: you don’t have to decorate your ‘Girls Only’ party in all pink! Have fun experimenting with bright, bold colors. Put a big vase of bright flowers on your serving table. Set the party mood by playing some great female jazz (try Jane Monheit, Norah Jones or Diana Krall.) Honor the time-honored girl past-time of shopping – tie any balloon bouquets to small (weighted) shopping bags!

Games & Prizes:

Forego typical games and entertain yourselves with manicures. Stock up on nail supplies (like files, buffers, tip cutters, cuticle pushers, etc.) Have guests bring their favorite nail polish colors, and you’re set to go.

Keep in mind the mother-to-be should avoid using nail polish during pregnancy. A few studies have indicated that phthalate, which is found in nail polish, poses a slight risk of producing congenital disabilities. We suggest playing it safe and sticking with clipping, buffing and polishing the mother-to-be’s nails… and giving her a great massage!

The Menu:

An all-girl menu will include items like these:

  • Salad bar including healthy greens like arugula and spinach, and a variety of fresh veggies
  • Salad toppers like tofu, olives, capers and beans
  • Platter of gourmet cheeses and meats
  • Variety of pieces of bread (including sourdough, ciabatta and pita)
  • Dessert buffet
  • A huge, gigantic, overflowing bowl of chocolates
Party favors:

Women love chocolates… of course!

My Thoughts:

Are your guests ready to go on a complete man diet? Modify the don’t say baby by not saying boy, boys, man, or men!

Girl Baby Showers Theme

Pinks and white lace take center stage when you throw a girl theme. Like you need an excuse to celebrate your femininity!

All girls know – there’s nothing like an abundance of pinks and white lace.

Invitations:

Obvious, but oh-so-fitting is a simple pink letter. Spice it up by adding glitter, ribbon or stamps.

Decorations:

Your decor needs to be mostly pink, but increment light reds and whites into this color scheme. Your florist will have plenty of pink flowers in which to choose. Finish off your decor with candles and glittery fabric to adorn your serving table. Don’t forget some soft background music and soft lighting.

Games & Prizes:

We have plenty of girl themed games in which to choose. Here are some of our favorites:

  • The Price is Right
  • Dress up baby game
  • Teddy bear Kiss game
The Menu:

Serve up some girl favorites:

  • Salad bar
  • Soup
  • Cheese and garlic biscuits

And need we remind you? Bring on the chocolate!

Party Favors:

Give guests a great DIY (do it yourself) stamping kit. Girls love stamping things!

My Thoughts:

Are you looking for a way to include dad in this girls-only party? Check out our idea for daddy’s car valet.

Clothesline Shower Theme

Baby clothes, fresh scents, and clear blue skies. We detect a great theme here for girls!

Clotheslines make an ideal theme for any shower, especially if the honoree is requesting clothes as a gift.

Invitations:

Send out clothesline invitations. If the honoree is only asking clothes as a gift, make sure to specify this on the invitation.

Decorations:

Make a faux clothesline in your venue. String yarn or other sturdy string from one side of the room to the other. Hang up baby clothes as part of your decorating, and add new clothes as mom opens them.

Integrate clothes pins and wicker laundry baskets into the rest of your shower decor. Scent your venue with the baby powder or fabric softener sheets!

Games & Prizes:
  • Baby dress up game
  • Design maternity clothes
  • Dress dad up like a baby
The Menu:

Incorporate soft pastels to your table with these foods:

  • Finger sandwiches
  • Fresh fruit
  • Sherbet
  • Jell-O topped with a pastel frosting
  • Create clothes pin-shaped cake for dessert!
Party Favors:

Give guests mini laundry detergents. This isn’t your typical party favor, but we love its usefulness!

My Thoughts:

Don’t forget the baby blanket gift wrap. Later, hang these blankets up on the beautiful clothesline.

Mother Goose Baby Shower

The classic Mother Goose nursery rhymes are quickly and elegantly transformed into a beautiful theme for girls.

Invitations:

Plastic egg shower invitations are perfect for this theme. Include pictures from a Mother Goose book before folding your letter and placing in the egg.

Decorations:

A goose, eggs, and storybooks are the decorations du jour. Create a ‘goose nest’ for guests to deposit gifts. Since balloons are egg shaped, balloon bouquets are a welcome addition to your decor. Scatter plastic eggs on table tops and shelves. Use plastic eggs to create egg shaped ice cubes for your punch.

Continue with the nursery rhyme theme by making colored copies of the pages of a Mother Goose story book. Since nursery rhymes are typically read to children before bedtime, decorate your shower venue with nursery decorations.

Games & Prizes:

Have guests act out and guess popular children’s characters while playing a fun game of nursery rhyme charades.

The Menu:

Have fun with your menu by incorporating phrases from Mother Goose stories into the food names:

  • Row, Row, Row Your Boat Barbeque
  • Little Bo Peep Quiche
  • Mary Had a Little Lamb Kebabs
  • Georgie Porgie Pudding (or) Pie
  • Place large white feathers around your serving dishes. Complete your menu with a ‘Mother Goose’ shaped shower cake.
Party Favors:

Give a “Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush” jam, or “Polly Put the Kettle On” tea bags.

My Thoughts:

If children are in attendance, give their parents a break by designating one guest read the kids Mother Goose books.

Arts and Crafts Baby Shower

How creative can you get? Speak your girly mind!

Invitations:

Send out homemade invites in your color scheme. Use art paper, ribbon, confetti and stamps to decorate.

Decorations:

Turn your venue into an art gallery. Display bright paintings and art pieces around your party. Drape scarves and fabric over your serving table. Top it all off with decorative mirrors and vases.

Games & Prizes:

Choose from any of these art-inspired activities;

Create nursery wall art. Supply art paper, craft paints and paint brushes and have guests create paintings to be placed on the walls of baby’s nursery. (Do this project outside or in a well-ventilated room.)

  • Decorate flip flops
  • Create homemade bracelets
  • Decorate baby bibs
The Menu:

Bake over-sized sugar cookies before the party. Have guests decorate them with colored frostings, edible glitter and cake sprinkles. You can substitute brownies for cookies.

Party Favors:

Send guests home with something homemade- jewelry, baked goods or seasonal decorations.

My Thoughts:

Consider doing a pregnancy belly cast as an activity for this shower theme.

Cute As A Bug Baby Shower Theme

Insects and worms get a cartoon makeover when you throw a ‘cute as a bug’ shower for baby girls!

Wait a minute – bugs are cute? When we make them baby-shower style, they sure are!

Invitations:

The idea is to decorate the green paper with green tissue paper cut-out in the shape of leaves. Use bright colored paper to create at least one bug. Write shower information on the inside and send it on its way!

Decorations:

Stick to bright and bold colors to simulate the colors of exotic bugs and jungle. Cutouts of worms, insects, butterflies and other bugs will distinguish this theme. Those looking to make a big impression can decorate their party pad in a jungle style complete with vines and exotic animals! If you have kids, have them help create some cute little critters. Top off your decor with green balloons and house plants.

Games & Prizes:

If kids are present at the shower, divide them up into teams of two to play the game ‘cocoon.’ Have each team wrap one of the team members in toilet paper to create a butterfly cocoon. The first team to complete their game wins bags of gummy worms or gummy bugs.

The Menu:

Stick to a menu of delicious fresh foods. Start off with a chilled punch mix of white cranberry juice, 1 liter of 7-Up or Sprite and two packages of frozen strawberries, thawed. Serve a fresh salad of spinach with warm garlic bread, red and yellow peppers, pine nuts, goat cheese and a raspberry vinaigrette. Make a cheesecake for dessert with a choice of fruity toppings.

Party Favors:

Send each guest home with a potted plant or fresh flowers.

My Thoughts:

The ‘cute as a bug’ theme is great any time of year, but especially fitting during the spring time.

Care Bear Baby Shower Theme

The Care Bears stand for caring, sharing, giving and hugging – making this a creative shower theme for girls!

These cute and loveable 80’s cartoon characters can make you throw an awesome party! After all, they’re great examples of such traits as caring, sharing, giving and hugging. What’s not to love?

Invitations:

Care Bear cards are commonly found online. Or make your invites with high-quality pictures of Care Bears. If the baby’s sex is known, go with a pink or blue bear!

Decorations:

Since most of the bears are light colors, go with a pastel color scheme. Create decorations based on rainbows, stars, hearts and clouds.

The Menu:

A Care Bears cake is a must-have! Care Bear cake toppers can be purchased online, so making your cake is easy! Use gummy bears to decorate the top salads, desserts or ice cream. Kids will love this idea!

Games & Prizes:

Start off the games with either a gummy bear or jelly bean count. The person who gets closest to the actual number of candies wins them.

Party Favors:

Bear shaped soap, or teddy bears would also be a great favor.

My Thoughts:

The ease of this theme is very bear-able. Enjoy your Care Bear baby shower!

Flower Baby Pot Shower

A flower pot theme is uniquely fitting for the coming of a newborn baby girl. Both an expectant mother and a flower pot bring new life and much joy!

Flower pots and flowers make great decorating while being a symbol of new life.

Invitations:

Establish your theme by including flowers and a pot on your invitations. Consider making personalized postage stamps with your honoree holding flowers.

Decorations:

Start out by decorating your entrance. Inside, decorate with potted plants, flowers, candles, and soft music. Stamp your napkins, invitations, and thank-you’s with plant-shaped rubber stamps.

Games & Prizes:

Modify the baby song game to find song names with the word flower or the name of a flower. Adapt the baby sculpture contest so your guests create flowers from modeling clay.

The Menu:

Is your guest list up for a posh dessert? Ramekins (small ceramic pots used for making desserts) would be a perfect fit with this shower theme. Creme brulee is a favorite dessert served in ramekins.

Party Favors:

Gift your guests with a clay pot filled with jelly beans. Include a packet of flower seeds for them to use later.

My Thoughts:

This theme is perfect for the springtime months of April and May.

It’s a wonderful and overwhelming sensation to welcome a new tiny member of the family into the family. Use our carefully made baby shower templates to express your undying love and concern for the mother and kid. If you’re planning an event, internet has a plethora of planners, checklists, and invitation card frames to choose from.
