How to make chocolate turtle cake?
Can you think of a mixture more appealing than chocolate, caramel, and pecans? We didn’t think so. Maybe that’s why this cake is an all-time party favorite.
My thoughts:
Serve it at your turtle baby shower since it’s a perfect baby shower cake. You can also serve make this cake for a Ninja Turtle birthday party, a bridal shower or a wedding party.

Ingredients
Cake
- 1 chocolate cake mix
- 4 ounces butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
- 1 large bag caramels, unwrapped
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Frosting
- 4 ounces butter
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
- 6 tablespoons evaporated milk
- 1 pound powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Pecans for garnish
Instructions
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch cake pan.
- Combine cake mix, butter, water, oil and 1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk.
- Pour half of the batter into the pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes.
- In a heavy saucepan over low heat, combine caramels and the remaining sweetened condensed milk.
- Stir until smooth.
- Pour the mixture over baked cake layer.
- Sprinkle the pecans over this layer.
- Pour the remaining cake batter.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Refrigerate the cake before frosting.
Frosting
- In a heavy saucepan, combine the butter, cocoa and evaporated milk.
- Heat and stir until the butter melts, and the mixture is combined.
- Remove from heat.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla and stir until blended.
- Cool and frost cake.
- Sprinkle with pecans, if desired.
