How to make classic chocolate cake?
A three-layered chocolate cake graces your baby shower service table. This recipe pairs well with a buttercream frosting.

Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 2/3 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons water
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 5 large eggs
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Grease and flour three 10-inch cake pans.
- Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and cocoa in large bowl.
- Add 1 cup plus two tablespoons water, and 1 cup plus two tablespoons canola oil.
- Mix for one minute.
- Add eggs, 3/4 cup water, and vanilla.
- Mix for 3-4 minutes with an electric hand mixer.
- Pour batter evenly into pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, depending on your oven.
- Let cool.
- Cover and transfer to the freezer for at least 2 hours before frosting.
