How to make sour cream chocolate cake?
This delicious recipe serves as an excellent base for decorated layered cakes.
My thoughts:
Top this cake with our dark chocolate frosting.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 ounces Baker's unsweetened chocolate
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sour cream (room temperature)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 eggs, beaten
Instructions
- You need to use two 9-inch pans or one 9 x 13-inch pan for this recipe.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
- Melt chocolate with butter and water in heavy saucepan over very low heat.
- Combine chocolate mixture with flour mixture and mix.
- Add sour cream, vanilla, baking soda, and eggs.
- Mix with electric mixer for 2 minutes.
- Pour batter into greased pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
- Cool.
- Before frosting, place covered in freezer for at least 2 hours.
