How to make 7-minute frosting for a baby shower?
This fat-free frosting is gloriously sweet and sticky. Because of its texture, we don’t recommend it for complex cake decorating. Works best simply as a spread on frosting.
Notes:
Frost your cake with this suds-like frosting at our baby bath shower or make it cloud-like for our moon and stars shower.
Ingredients
- 2 egg whites
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons light corn syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/3 cup cold water
- Dash of salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare a double boiler (Place a smaller saucepan inside a larger pan that contains water.
- Make sure the water doesn't flow over into the smaller pan.)
- Combine all ingredients except vanilla in top of double boiler.
- Over high heat, cook until the water in the bottom of double boiler starts to boil.
- As water heats, start beating egg white mixture on high speed with an electric mixer.
- Continue to beat for about 7 minutes, or until mixture forms stiff peaks. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract.
- Beat for an additional 2 minutes.
